Nancy Winslow Parker
ncy Winslow Parker is a published author, illustrator, and a photographer of children's books, including 22 that she wrote and illustrated. A prolific author and illustrator of children's books, she graduated from Maplewood's Columbia High School and Mills College (Class of 1952) where she majored in art and continued her education at the Art Students League and School of Visual Arts in New York. (She is the great-granddaughter of Jefferson Gauntt a noted portrait painter of the early 19th century.)
Many of Nancy Parker's carefully researched illustrations and stories reflected her passion for American history and technology. Her children's books have won several awards, including the Christopher Award and the American Library Association Notable Book. Parker insists that her illustrations and stories have one characteristic in common: they are all done in the spirit of fun.
