JOHN G. TYLER :“Victorious Volunteer” L.Prang & Co 1887 Chromolitho Gold Frame

Description: Painted by J. G. Tyler. Copyright 1887 by L. Prang & Co. Boston. The title continues with "between the American Sloop Volunteer and the Scotch Cutter Thistle. Distance sailed 20 miles to windward and return. Volunteer wins by 11 minutes 49 1/4 seconds corrected time". Two tables in the title margin give the dimensions for each of the yachts.

Condition: Fair, beautiful color some toning in margin, about 2" tear center, another 3/4 " bottom, please see photos.  The French mat is not totally in line;  (not examined out of frame)
