Morris Seymour Bloodgood (1845-1920) NYC
Studied under Jean-Leon Gerome in Paris. Became a drawing instructor at National Academy of Design. Bloodgood was born and died in NYC. He was a painter and teacher who began his career as an architect and studied at Cooper Union. He attended the National Academy of Design, where he became a drawing instructor, and the Art Students’ League. He also studied with Blanc, Gérôme and Courtois in Paris where he was a member of the American Art Association. Bloodgood painted in Connecticut, particularly along the Housatonic River, and in New York along the Hudson River, at Lake George and in the Catskills. He exhibited extensively including at the National Academy of Design ((1875-98), the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (1882, 1888-1890) and the Brooklyn Art Association (1874-86)
