RICHARD AHR 1929-2012
Born in buffalo, NY, Ricahrd Ahr earned a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts from Cranbrook Art Academy in Michigan. He was a Korean War Air Force Veteran. Mr. Ahr moved to New York City in 1958, where he began exhibiting in galleries. He was employed by the Museum of Modern Art, Department of Painting and Sculpture. After he retired, he continued to paint in his studio in the East Village.
He worked primarily in acrylic and watercolor, painting genre scenes in places such as New York City and Florida. His subjects included City Scenes, Beach, Dance and Racing. He exhibited in the Sommerhill Gallery in Durham, SC as well as in NYC. His works have been the MOMA as well as numerous private art collections.
